Hi friends! I have noticed a few new faces around here and I thought I’d take a moment to reintroduce myself to those of you who don’t know much about me aside from my affinity for photographing myself and my huge lady crush on Shakira.
I’m a Florida native (and Gator fan!) who upped and moved to the West coast almost three months ago looking for adventures and that’s exactly what I’ve found here in the Bay Area. I’ve seen more naked people, creativity, freedom of expression, kindness and craziness in the past few months than I had after years of living in the 352.
I studied journalism in college, and despite the naysayers (myself being the main one, of course) I’m finally putting my degree to use. I have the best family ever (the kind that gets excited and passes the phone around when I call) and I miss them like crazy.
I run a lot, but not necessarily well. I’ve been jogging (with a soft “j”) since my high school cross country days and I’m currently training for my first full marathon. So if you follow me on InstaGram, you’re sure to see lots of sweaty selfies and #healthrelatedhashtags.
I take my pudgy sausage of a beagle mutt, Ziggy Stardust, running with me a lot. She’s pretty much the coolest dog around, even when she eats my hair and I then have to pull it out of her butt for her (TMI?). She paws my head until I let her crawl under the covers and yea, we spoon. Whatever.
Needless to say I’m single.
Sometimes I drink too much and my split personality disorder starts to kick in. That hot mess is called Rose, but you can read about her here. I also get epic hangovers, so I tried to contain her. I’m obsessed with music. Mix CDs are, in my opinion, the ultimate gift, right after concert tickets.
I’m lactose intolerant and pretty bitter about it, so I spend a lot of time hunting down vegan pizzas and trying disgusting cheeses made of vegetables.
Lastly, I’m super friendly and I want to know more about you, so please introduce yourself so we can be friends!

You are precious! I thought I was the only one who had to do that disgusting task for my dog. Glad to know I'm not the only one suffering my way through pulling things out of his butt..

If by friends you you're giving consent for me to hard-stalk your blog this weekend then yes, let's be that.
Rose and my other personality, Kitty, would have a shit-faced time together.

You are not alone in the doggie world – I have also had to pull poop, string, and hair from both of my lovely doggies butts – yeah for us?! Thanks for the info, I am a new reader to your blog and have really enjoyed it thus far!

I'm trying to become a better runner. I signed up for a ten mile race in September (which seems so long to me, but I know runners who find that a warm-up). I had my first few races this year and found them so fun. I did the Spartan Sprint Mud Obstacle Race and it was awesome…though it made me realize I'm not in as good of shape as I though ha.

Lactose intolerant? I couldn't handle that!
I didn't realize you just moved to the bay area three months ago! Wow! You are a brave soul.
My husband and I are seriously looking into picking up and moving to San Diego. We literally have nothing stopping us- at least I don't. I can transfer with my job.
I feel inspired to pick up and move.
Katie
do you have any advice for just "picking up and moving"? how did you manage? did you save up a lot first? love the blog, so inspired.

Haha I'm glad I don't have to do stuff like that for my cat! But it's all out of love, right? 😉

Sounds like we have a good bit in common! I too majored in journalism (and actually went to grad school for it too…) and am hoping to run my first marathon next year! I'm a new reader, been loving your blog so far 🙂

I'm Jess, a new reader! I may have stalked your trip to Tahoe because I just lived there for 10 months. (Which I think I mentioned in a comment…) You could say I miss it. I'm from Bama, so Roll Tide. 😉 You knew I had to throw that in there!
Not quite a runner, but I desperately want to be! ha So, if you have any tips that would be helpful… Loving your blog!

I've been wanting a puppy but I have ZERO desire to pull human hair from a dog's butt, therefore I must not be ready for the commitment that is dog-ownership. Dear God.

it's slightly embarrassing that i knew all of these things about you already.
love you chicky.

Love the blog! Following now by way of The Daily Tay– love your sense of humor, such a great read! Pulling your own hair out of your dog's butt is special, been there done that. I'm new to blogging and haven't yet managed to show my sense of humor as well as you have– but I can be found over at ugottahavehart.blogspot.com– Jamie
