If any of you folks have ever spent good quality time with my family, you know that we love Thanksgiving. And as much as I look forward to getting into the Christmassy holiday spirit each year, part of the excitement is waiting until after Thanksgiving to start celebrating it! I don’t know about you guys, but I get sick of Christmas music after a while (let’s face it, they’re all the same songs.. just different voices), so I make sure to wait until at least December to start listening to it. That goes for decorating and movies (for the most part) as well.
I will admit that I got a little excited about all the holiday candles at the Yankee Candle store in the mall the other day, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m still super stoked about Turkey Day and I don’t appreciate all the Christmas decorations that are already up all around town. It’s not time yet. Friday after Thanksgiving? I’m all for it. I will drink eggnog (soy, of course), sing “Deck The Halls” and watch “A Christmas Story” 10 times over.. but for now, it’s time for phallic looking gourds (is that just us?), cornucopias, pumpkin pie, turkey, White Russians (again, just us?) and being thankful.
To solidify my beliefs about not celebrating Christmas before Thanksgiving has been full appreciated, I have taken the super official pledge (as shown below) to Respect The Bird, and if you feel the same way I encourage you to do so as well. Also, from now until Thanksgiving I will be listing one thing I am thankful for each day.
Today I am thankful for my wonderful Beaglier, Ziggy Stardust, who is currently having the time of her life playing with a very small, very gross piece of plastic (I thought it was a dead frog at first, so I’m thankful that’s not as well). And I guess I’m pretty thankful for the big doofus in the corner too, my sister‘s bull dog Bogart.
Plus I can’t forget to mention the leader of our furry pack, my parents’ golden retriever Scout!
What are you thankful for?

I'm thankful for YOU! I enjoy your funny family Thanksgiving traditions. PS: I've never had a White Russian before.

Bahaha this is great! I'm totally with you on appreciating Thanksgiving 🙂 I do however have to admit to listening to Christmas music starting Nov. 1. 🙂

Thanks, Jess! I am thankful for you too! 🙂 We will definitely have to make you a White Russian (or three..).
Christmas music is all right as long as we don't forget that Turkey Day is awesome too! I have noticed there are some pretty ballin' Christmas albums out lately..
