It is absolutely perfect outside and that’s exactly where I’ll be blogging today. I have spent the whole day looking up at this cloudless sky and I’m not ready to give it up yet. It’s one of those days where you get to wear a tank top because it’s nice and warm in the sunshine, but you also get to wear boots and a cute scarf because it’s chilly in the shade. I really do love Florida sometimes most of the time. To top off this wonderful Saturday, I got to do two of my very favorite things: races & festivals.
I got up bright & early to walk (because I still can’t run) the Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k in Ocala with my sister and nephew. This 5k was particularly special to me because for one, the theme was “Put on your pink bra” meaning decorate a fabulously flamboyant pink bra & wear it on the outside of your shirt as you walk through Silver Springs (I think we know how much I love decorating & fabulously flamboyant things!); and two, because it was for a cause very important to me; and three, it was the first time my nephew has ever run an entire 5k (3.1 miles) without stopping. He is 10 years old and I am SO proud. Then I met up with Austin at the McIntosh 1890’s Festival.
We ate shaved ice and Italian sausage while Ziggy ate the corn dogs people dropped. I found another awesome ring and Ziggy sniffed a dog statue’s butt. It was awesome.
We even got to hear some rad live music, complete with mandolin picking & Florida centered lyrics. I’m off to enjoy the rest of this gorgeous day.
How did you spend your weekend?
