11 Things
Random thing #1: I have a quirky love for movies that no one else (except my sister) likes. Grease II? I’ll sing you “Cool Rider” all day, and you can’t tell me that “Reproduction” wasn’t hilarious. I think I may even like it better than the original (go ahead, freak out. I will allow it.) Also, the Amanda Bynes movie “She’s The Man” is one of my all-time favorites.
Random thing #7: Ever since I was a baby I wanted to try everything. As a result, I have participated in gymnastics, soccer, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, bowling, softball, weight lifting, cross country and track.
Random thing #8: Even though I have been swimming since I was very little, I never learned “proper” technique, so I’m self-conscious about looking like a dying fish while trying to do freestyle. This is why I’ve never done a triathlon, and I hope to one day feel confident enough in my swimming to do one.
Random thing #9: I have three piercings in each ear.
Random thing #10: I have had a trampoline in my backyard ever since I can remember. My cousin and I (he’s kind of like my twin brother) used to do flips off our tree house onto the trampoline. Also, putting the sprinkler under the trampoline is the best thing ever. It makes little rainbows and tons of mud (we used to play “Chocolate Factory” and make mud pies all day.) Sometimes I lay on the trampoline to think/meditate/cry/etc.
Random thing #11: My family loves Spam. Yea, the meat substance that comes in a can. We make spamburgers and they are delicious. I know you’re gagging right now thinking about it, but you’re just gonna have to trust me. They’re awesome. You have to drink Pepsi when you eat them. It’s required.
1. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
Brush my teeth. I hate morning breath so, so very much.
2. If you could tell your 14-year-old self one thing- what would it be?
That guy you’re dating will eventually have a tri-hawk and do a loooot of drugs. Don’t take it too hard when he dumps you. (And I wouldn’t listen, of course, because he’s soooo hawtttt lolz)
3. Who’s your biggest girl crush?
Shakira. This video makes me swoon. This one too… oh, and this one.
4. When is the last time you peed your pants?
I believe when I was very, very young and dreamed that I was on the toilet. I have made other people pee their pants from laughing so hard in my more recent history. I’m pretty proud of those times.
5. Who’s your biggest inspiration?
That’s a hard question.. I think everyone in my immediate family is a huge inspiration to me. I admire the way my brother looks at and interacts with life. I love the drive and ambition of my dad and sister, Britni, and I would be honored to be as compassionate and caring as my mom and sister, Brandy. And, of course, I would do anything to be half as awesome as my Grandma is one day.
6. Would you rather be a mermaid or have a pet unicorn?
I’d rather be a mermaid. And I want my hair to be bright red. And you can bet your ass I wouldn’t trade being able to breathe under water for some douchey prince.
7. What’s your favorite breakfast cereal?
Corn Pops.
8. Who’s your favorite Spice Girl? (No, you can’t say honorary Spice Girl David Beckham.)
Sporty Spice. I was always Sporty Spice.
9. Who’s the last person you said “I love you” to?
idk, my bff Jess?
10. What’s your “happy place”?
Somewhere with loud music.. Concerts, I think.
11. If you had to jump off a cliff without a parachute, would you rather kick back and enjoy the ride, never knowing when you’re going to hit the ground or jump face first, seeing it coming and knowing when exactly when your last moment would be?
I would kick back and enjoy the ride. Free fallin’, baby.

New Beginnings
Passing on the Shine
I received my Pass It Forward card from Ashley of The Shine Project yesterday, and after a lot of brainstorming I decided it would be really fun to surprise my sister, Brandy, with some treats and words of encouragement. Today marks the end of her first week at a brand new job (I’m talkin’ big girl job, the kind where you think long and hard about what will be best for you and your family kind of a job), and it just so happens to be the kind of job where you are doing nice things for others every single day. Not to mention, she’s always inspiring me to do great things, so I figured she’d be the perfect person to continue spreading the shine. Luckily I still had the key to her casa from when I used to nanny for my two nephews over the summer, so I snuck in while she and her husband were at work and left these treats on her dining room table.
Water balloons for the boys, doggie treats for their Aussie, sugar-free candy for my sista and a double shot of espresso for my brother-in-law. I felt all tingly and excited, kind of like Christmas morning, as I was sneaking around trying to surprise them. What a great feeling. I will definitely continue to spread the shine, with or without the cards. Really, nothing beats the feeling of doing something that might brighten someone else’s day. And while we’re on the subject of doing things for others, please check out how this amazing woman spent her 35th birthday doing 35 (super fun and creative) random acts of kindness. I think everybody should make this their new birthday tradition, I know I am.
Did you do anything nice for anyone today? Please comment and tell me your good deeds of the day, week, month, it doesn’t matter! Spread the Shine!

I heard this on the radio today and it made me smile, so hopefully it’ll make you smile too.
