This weekend we celebrated Friendsgiving and I made my first homemade apple pie. Clearly I was pretty stoked about it since I took 547 photos of it. I drank a lot of spiked apple cider, heard my first Mariah Carey of the season, ate a lot of delicious food and did my best Lil Wayne impressions. I also watched the whole first season of “New Girl” again for, like, the sixth time, drank bubble tea and cuddled with the sausage dog. It was a pretty fantastic end of the week. How did you spend the last three days?
I confess..
I just bought 1989 by Taylor Swift. “Blank Space” was just too good. I couldn’t not spend $13 on the album.
This means a popcorn spiced recipe AND Taylor Swift are both within one scroll on this blog. I’ve reached solid gold white girl status.
I have officially spent enough time away from my nanny baby that I’m having withdrawals. It took everything I had not to steal the cutest little ginger off of the train last night. GIVE ME ALL THE BABIES.
I recently embarked on a mission to watch all of “The Office” again for the fourth time as background noise while working at night. The first few times I watched it, however, were before the final season was on Netflix, and it turns out I hate it even more now than I did the first time I saw it. I think Will Ferrell is the worst and I know that’s not actually true.
I still haven’t done anything exciting with my apples. The thought of peeling them for the recipes I want to follow just seems way too strenuous.
I had a cold hamburger for breakfast yesterday. Like, I couldn’t even be bothered with sticking it in the microwave for 20 seconds before consuming it. This was at 7am.
I had the rest of it for dinner.
I can’t remember the last time I went to the grocery store and I’ve become intimately acquainted with Seamless.
I ran almost 4 miles one day last week and I’m still sore. Remember when I used to run 10+ miles on Saturdays for funsies? (And break my ass every time..) Those were good times.
My weekend was actually a lot more exciting than I made it out to be. Sometimes blogging about your life is hard knowing people from said life could be reading it.
I went to trivia night on Monday and we lost so bad we didn’t even rank. The only category we nailed was the name-the-toys-from-the-90’s section.
I made a 3-page list of blog ideas that I don’t have time to execute and it’s killing me hard-ly..?

Pumpkin Spiced Popcorn
Here’s what you need:
-A bag of lightly salted popcorn (I went with the no-butter variety)
-Mixed nuts (I avoided peanuts because they’re like the peasants of the nut hierarchy)
-Dried cranberries (Extra points if you got them at a hipster super market like the Berkeley Bowl)
-Honey or agave nectar (Or both if you’re me)
-Pumpkin pie spice (There isn’t actually any pumpkin in this recipe. Is that deceiving?)
-Ground cinnamon (I felt like there needed to be a parenthetical next to each ingredient)
Here’s what to do:
First pop the popcorn and throw it in a bowl. Squeeze honey/agave nectar into a bowl (how much depends on how sticky/sweet you want it to be, I probably used 4 tablespoons) and stick in the microwave for 30ish seconds so it’s nice and runny. Combine the nuts, cranberries and popcorn and drizzle the sweet stuff over it, tossing to distribute evenly and sprinkle with copious amounts of pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon. I then stuck it in the freezer for about 15 minutes to make it slightly less sticky, but then I just embraced the stickiness because it was delicious.
Apples & Oysters
What I wore
I’m a cardinal for Halloween, get it? Kidding, but these little embroidered birdies are pretty adorbz, right? In case you’re unfamiliar, eShakti is a women’s clothing website that offers customization for fit and style, and they were nice enough to let me choose an item to selfie in. I chose this shirt dress which was tailored to my measurements, and I chose to make the sleeves quarter length instead of full-length. The material is incredibly high quality and I’m pretty in love with the way it fits, but I’m especially fond of the cardinal details because my best friends from college and I just so happened to name ourselves after this winged species. We still take awkward wing-flapping photos every time we’re together (read more about that from back when I didn’t know how to edit or resize photos here and when we had an SF reunion here).
Happy Halloween, friends. I know I’ve been MIA, but I promise I’ve been brainstorming all kinds of awesome things to blog about as soon as I figure out how to stop sleeping. I hope your night is filled with sugar highs and hilariously slutty costumes.

Weekend Things
This is what the past two weekends have looked like according to my pathetic, still-cracked-iPhone. Emma and I kayaked in the bay last weekend, creeping on birds and checking out the back of the AT&T Stadium, then we ate bbq next to a pool. This weekend some moisture actually came from the sky, so naturally I had to document this miraculous event. I ate delicious tacos and drank copious amounts of sangria while watching the Giants in the World Series, then my roomies and I headed to the Bridge School Benefit concert where we saw Band of Horses, Norah Jones, Sound Garden, Florence + The Machine, Pearl Jam and Neil Young rock out acoustically. Oh, and a middle aged man who hated his life called me a see you next Tuesday while I waited in line for chicken fingers because I knew about Eddie Vedder’s ukulele album. I almost let it ruin my night (and came very close to kneeing him in the balls) but, with the encouragement of a level-headed roommate, I decided to listen to music and drink local wine instead. Also, a random from Instagram left me this comment and it made it all better:

Picnics & Planes
If you’ve never picnicked in a park while planes fly in synchronized formations overhead, I highly suggest you do so. Wine is also recommended.
