After disliking all the USA-tastic bathing suits I saw at Walmart & Target, I decided I’d declare my own independence by making my own. I got tips from this video & winged a lot of it. Here goes:
Dontcha..
These are my new Mizuno running shoes. I’m super paranoid that I got a half-size too big, but the truth of the matter is only one of them is too big. I always knew my left foot was bigger than the right, but I never thought it was a whole half size bigger! This is ridiculous. I tried putting two socks on my right foot, but then the width was too snug and I was afraid it would just make the shoe even bigger. So I’m just sucking it up. I’m probably just whining because I’m still emotionally attached to my pink Mizunos I’ve been wearing for the past year anyway.

We’re Just A Million Little Gods
The Arcade Fire’s “Wake Up” has got to be one of the greatest songs ever created, or at least one of my very favorites. I figured I should document this for future reference.
Also, I just found this video of them performing it live with David Bowie. Perfection.
Somethin’ filled up
my heart with nothin’,
someone told me not to cry.
But now that I’m older,
my heart’s colder,
and I can see that it’s a lie.
Children wake up,
hold your mistake up,
before they turn the summer into dust.
If the children don’t grow up,
our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up.
We’re just a million little gods causin’ rain storms turnin’ every good thing to
rust.
I guess we’ll just have to adjust.
With my lightnin’ bolts a glowin’
I can see where I am goin’ to be
when the reaper he reaches and touches my hand.
With my lightnin’ bolts a glowin’
I can see where I am goin’
With my lightnin’ bolts a glowin’
I can see where I am, go-go, where I am

Crackle Overcoat
Anyway, it’s also pretty harmful to my bank account because I am very easily distracted by beauty & hair products – they have a wonderfully vast selection. My latest Walgreens impulse buy was Sally Hanson’s Crackle Overcoat nail polish in “fractured foil.”
It doesn’t exactly look how it does in the ads, but neither do McDonald’s cheeseburgers and they’re delicious.. so here goes:

So, for now these are the sorts of things you can expect to see on the blog. I will include old stuff, new stuff and even some “tutorials” on how I did this or that.
I can feel it calling in the air tonight..
Turns out the Zac Brown Band won’t be at the DMB concert. Bummer, but Gov’t Mule is opening for them and I’ve heard lots of good things. Definitely stoked.
So I’m a big movie fan, and I’ve noticed that a lot of big movies lately haven’t had all that great of soundtracks. It’s such a shame, I think, since good music automatically makes me like a movie at least 10% more. I mean, how many Linkin Park songs can you fit in one movie, Transformers? The only thing worse than a bad soundtrack, however, is an amazing one that doesn’t include any of the songs from it on the CD…
Here’s my list of top 10 movie soundtracks- in no particular order:
1. Garden State (Zac Braff is amazing)
2. Whip It
3. Clueless (Who doesn’t love “Rollin’ With The Homies?”)
4. The Hangover (Great party music)
5. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Meatloaf? Yes, please!)
6. Sixteen Candles (OK, maybe I just love “If You Were Here”..a lot.)
7. O Brother, Where Art Tho?
8. High Fidelity (Jack Black even sings “Let’s Get It On” at the end!)
9. Grease (And Grease II, but apparently no one else liked it except me & my sister. “Cool Rider” was one of my FAVORITE songs back in the day!)
10. The Graduate (Thank you, Simon & Garfunkel!)
..And as a former ultra Spice Girls fan, I feel the need to share the rumor going around that got me all excited. Supposedly there is a Spice Girls musical coming out, Mamma Mia-style.. Until it’s confirmed, here’s to wishful thinking! 🙂
I wanna be the one to put it in a song..
Cecelia, Barbara Ann, Amanda, Roxanne, Prudence, Maggie..
All names of women featured in amazing songs. Unfortunately “MacKensie” doesn’t creep into love songs all that often… So I have decided that being a serial killer in “Mack the Knife” is better than wearing silver buttons all down my back, back, back.
I’m a journalism student at the University of Florida with a ridiculous obsession with music. I’ve been told I know the words to every song (don’t be fooled, I make them up when I don’t) and I am sure to have at least one favorite song from every genre. In this blog I will describe my passion for music by rambling on about the good, bad, new, old and every concert I lose my voice at–Two weeks ago I saw Rooney in Gainesville.. I totally screamed like a 12-year-old AND my friend caught both of the guitar picks tossed into the crowd. The other chicks were so pissed.
“Cigarettes are raining hard on the Upper East Side. She brings me a cake, we celebrate, I have arrived. And I know that it’s been said before, but you’re my human holiday. I put my hands on the table and dare say the love of my life.”- Fun.
Enjoy!
